We have the perfect itenerary for your special Thailand honeymoon – and it includes a little bit of everything that is so great about Thailand: relaxing, cocktails, adventure, shopping and fun! You name it, Thailand has got it.

Begin your journey in…

PHUKET

Phuket is an amazing part of Thailand with so much culture and so many things to do. It has 30 crystal clear beaches, and palmed coastlines. You could spend 3 weeks in Phuket and not get through half of it as there is so much to do!

Where To Stay

There is no hotel more perfect for a honeymoon than the magical Twinpalms Phuket located on Surin Beach. As you arrive at this beautifully designed luxury hotel, you are seated in the lobby and offered a welcome drink and a cold towel. Once you check in, which only takes a short moment and a few very welcoming smiles, you are escorted into a private room to choose which style pillow you would prefer to sleep with, which scent you would like in your room, and which flower you would prefer to decorate your room. You are then escorted to your room which is perfectly luxurious in every way. A sunken bathtub in the large bathroom is perfect for a romantic night in with your new hubby with a bottle of Dom Perignon (which comes in your mini-bar) to celebrate your newly wed bliss. During the day the hotel has the most magnificent pool which has loungers sitting in the pool under rows of tropical palm trees. If you get a rainy day, the hotel has a beautiful spa with amazing treatments, a library full of all the latest movies and books, and even a 5-star gym with personal trainers if you are feeling up to it. The breakfast every morning is absolutely fabulous, with a worldwide variety starting from freshly blended fruit juices, any egg dish you can think of, to waffles with Nutella and smoked Salmon ciabatta. This 5-star hotel is one in a million, and their service and attention to detail really stands out. It is very easy to see why it is voted one of the best small luxury hotels of the world.

What To Do

  • Watch the sunset on Surin Beach.

  • Rent a scooter and explore the coastline of Phuket.

  • Visit Patong. Patong is a lot wilder than Surin, and it is definitely something you should do while in Phuket. The shopping is amazing. The food is great. And best of all, they have fried rolled ice cream – this will be your best dish of the entire trip!

  • Visit Kata Beach. It has beautiful white sands and crystal waters, and it has a lot of amazing street food too, without all of the crowds.

  • Jet ski on Kamala Beach. There are so many activities to do such as jet skiing and parasailing, and there are so many restaurants and bars right on the beach.

Where To Eat

The Palm Seaside is one of the top rated restaurants in Thailand and it is easy to see why. This restaurant is amazing with marble tables and chairs sunken inside a large, luxurious pool. The deck of the restaurant leads all the way out to Bang Tao beach where you have a view of all of the longtails and fishing boats. The Oysters to start with are delicate and fresh. Followed by the incredible king prawns in a red Thai curry sauce that will make your mouth shiver with bliss. Finish the meal off with an incredible Thai favorite dessert: sticky rice with mango, followed by a Pina Colada (which they give you in a huge coconut with a Thai fan on the side), and you will be one happy newly wed couple!

Hop onto your first island by heading to…

KOH PHI PHI DON

Koh Phi Phi Don is an amazing little island destination which is often given negative feedback. When you are booking your trip to this island, it is important to know that it is a small island and full of tourists. It is not going to be the cleanest destination you will visit, and it is not the fanciest island either, but it really is beautiful and worth the trip – even if only for a few nights…

How To Get There

If you are coming from Phuket or Krabi, you will find many small tourism stalls along the beaches and main roads. Go into one of the stalls and get a ferry ticket. Make sure that the ticket includes collection from your current hotel to the docks, and make sure you book at least one day in advance.

Where To Stay

When you arrive in Koh Phi Phi Don, as you walk off the ferry there are people from the hotel with a sign that says “Bay View Hotel” waiting to transfer you to the hotel in a longtail boat. You do not have to book this in advance as they come through for every ferry arrival. Once you get on the longtail boat, it is a short but beautiful trip to the hotel’s beach which you get off the boat directly into the shallow waters. That is one of the most beautiful aspects of this hotel – the private beach with sun loungers and the glorious views from your villa. The hotel is in a great location. It is at the end of the main road which gives you enough quiet and privacy, but is extremely close enough to the town where you have many markets, restaurants, and bars. On certain evenings the hotel arranges an amazing fire show on the beach which is some great entertainment.

What To Do

  • Take a tour on a longtail boat around the island.

  • Snorkel at Maya Bay – this is where The Beach was filmed with Leonardo DiCaprio.

  • Hike to the Phi Phi Viewpoint.

  • Party at Ibiza Beach Club.

Head onto more adventure by going to…

KRABI

Krabi is an incredible paradise picture-perfect landscapes, coral reefs and white sand beaches. Krabi is probably the best all-rounder place to go. With a little bit of everything to do – shopping, relaxing, adventure.

How To Get There

Take a ferry from Koh Phi Phi Don to Ao Nang. Get a ticket which includes a mini-bus transfer from the port to your hotel.

Where To Stay

The Lai Thai is a stunning new serviced self-catering condominium with the most beautiful penthouse perfect for any honeymooners, a short 5-minute walk from the beach! Equipped with a full kitchen, a Jacuzzi bath, and a full balcony around the entire penthouse boasting gorgeous views of the limestone cliffs – you are sure to enjoy your romantic stay. The property has a swimming pool, a very well-equipped gym, a small massage facility and wonderful restaurant. Whether you feel like relaxing or going on a tropical adventure in Krabi – this is definitely the perfect place to be. Their concierge can assist you with and transfers or tourist activities, and they are on a fantastic street which has lots of restaurants and tourism stalls.

What To Do

  • Take a longtail boat to Railay and make your way to Phra-nang Beach where you can swim in a cave, and rent a kayak for the afternoon to adventure around the limestone cliffs.

  • Take a daytrip to the Emerald Pool.

  • Visit the Tiger Cave temple and climb 1237 to view a breathtaking sunset from the top.

  • Take a Thai cooking class.

Where To Eat

Go down to the beach and you will find plenty of amazing restaurants on the beachfront cooking delicious fresh fish, prawns, and lobster. If you feel like an authentic Thai meal – you will get the most amazing Pad Thai and Thai chicken skewers from a small street stall close by the Lai Thai. When you are walking from the Lai Thai, turn right on the main street and on the left-hand side of the road outside a large motorbike shop you will find a few street vendors at night. This will be the best Pad Thai you will have – and for only 50 Baht (+/-R18.50).

Finish your amazing trip by shopping up a storm in…

BANGKOK

A lot of people say you should do Bangkok first and save the islands and relaxation for last. But if you are a woman who loves to shop, then it is recommended that you do Bangkok at the end of your trip so that you can really shop up a storm without having to drag around all that you bought. Bangkok is an amazing city with the perfect balance of huge skyscrapers and fancy 5-star restaurants; and street markets with authentic Thai cuisine. There is so much to do and see in Bangkok, don’t write this city off just because you are caught up in the romance of Thai islands and cocktails. You will have an amazing time in this incredible city too!

Where To Stay

This newly built 5-star luxury hotel in the Sukhumvit area is the perfect place to stay in Bangkok. The location is amazing, the personalized service is incredible and the rooms are modern and beautiful. This hotel has an incredible rooftop pool to relax at during the day and a rooftop bar that is one of the best in the city. Being a brand new hotel, it is not overfull with a million tourists. Instead it has enough people for a lovely vibe, but you are still able to enjoy yourself at the rooftop bar which is not over-crowded like most of the popular rooftop bars in Bangkok. The honeymoon suite is magical – with glass walls from the ceiling to the floor giving you the most outstanding views of Bangkok. The suites have a fully equipped kitchen, a beautiful bathtub overlooking the park, and full views allowing you to really soak up the city. The hotel has a fully-equipped and modern gym, 5-star dining facilities, and a 24-hour reception and concierge. The breakfast buffet is really amazing boasting a variety of luxury coffees, fruits, eggs and bacon, fresh juices, and a large variety of pastries. The marble tables while you eat combined with the views really give you a wonderful dining experience. This hotel is definitely a hidden gem and is the perfect luxurious way to end off your magical honeymoon.

What To Do

  • Cocktails at a rooftop bar at night. A lot of people will suggest that you visit the Lebua Skybar (where The Hangover was filmed) but I would advise against it. It is so overfull that you will not get a seat or a table, and it is so ridiculously overpriced with cocktails starting from R250 upwards. My suggestion is to visit the Vanilla Skybar on the top floor of the Compass Skyview hotel. This is an undiscovered hidden gem of the city, and you will really get to enjoy yourself.

  • Shop at the MBK Center. This shopping center is like something you have never seen before. It is many floors of just thousands of shops and stalls. You will find every clothing item, shoe, tech product, make up item, luggage piece and Thai cultural items possible.

  • Get a tailored suit or dress made at one of the hundreds of tailors you will find on every corner.

  • Visit the Temple Of The Reclining Buddha.

  • Visit Patpong Night Market.

Where To Eat

Tealicious Bangkok

This tiny restaurant is highly rated in Bangkok, and once you eat there it is very clear why. While it may not look like anything amazing, you will get the most incredible authentic Thai dishes – some of the best that you will taste throughout your trip. The food is incredible and the prices are low. The green curry is amazing. Tealicious is across the road from the Lebua at State Tower. This restaurant gets really full but if you have to wait a couple of minutes for a table, it is so worth it.

Thailand is one of the most incredible honeymoon destinations catering to all of your fantasies. Whether you want to explore the islands, go for lovely candlelit dinners on the beach, or just enjoy the sunset in your newly wed bliss, Thailand is the place to be.

Happy planning!
