Real Wedding: Lorraine and Kevin

Lorraine and Kevin are an amazing Texas-based couple who decided to make their love for each other official through one impressive adventure: eloping in Africa. The love that these two souls shared for one another was pure, raw and absolutely authentic. The best way they felt to make it official, was to be out in the natural African bush; secluded and only focused on each other. They wanted to get that majestic feeling of being one with nature, and one with each other. It was exactly as they envisioned.

They hired Kelly Sadie Weddings in South Africa to plan this elegant safari wedding, and bring all of their ideas to life. Lorraine wanted a very natural color palette, as to keep inline with the bush feel of the elopement. She wanted a mix of neutral colors with blush pink, greens, mauve, and deep red. She then wanted a pop of rose gold to add a bit of glam, and a pop of sapphire to compliment her beautiful engagement ring.

It was very easy to design a look using this color palette, as so many beautiful and natural South African flowers are inline with this. We were able to bring in Blushing Bride, Proteas, Pampas Grass, and Roses, mixed with beautiful foliage such as Eucalyptus and Fynbos. This really added to the ‘African Feel’ she was going for.

The Pampas Grass was the best part of the design. We got a stunning semi-circle of Pampas Grass finished off with Proteas and other flowers, to create the perfect focal point for their ceremony. We used more of the Pampas Grass structures inside their dining area around their table to really finish off the look and make them feel the nature even though they were dining inside. The entire style was quite eclectic, but still elegant and absolutely romantic.

The most special part of the day was watching Kevin show his emotions during the ceremony. It is so rare to see a man that in love with someone, and it was very special to witness. He had all of the suppliers in tears when he read out his vows and talked about his beautiful bride and how much he absolutely adored her. The couple said their “I Dos” among an amazing and lively Xhosa choir, singing traditional love songs and really giving the full African ambience that they were opting for.

It was such an intimate and magical wedding.
